WinVivo’s Flagship Product—the Healing Balm Wins Prestigious National Package Design Award

WinVivo Corporation announced that the package designed for its flagship product the Healing Balm has won the prestigious American Package Design Award 2011 given by Graphic Design USA.
The Healing Balm is a potent natural botanical ointment formulated for treating various challenging skin conditions. Since it was launched at the San Francisco Green Festival in November 2010, the Healing Balm has been widely sought after by consumers and healthcare professionals seeking alternative solutions to chronic skin problems.
Contained in an elegant frosted glass jar, the naturally mauve-colored balm mirrors WinVivo’s corporate logo which incorporates into the design the leading botanical ingredient of the Healing Balm, tree peony. Tree Peony has been used in Asia for centuries as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial herb for fighting infection and inflammation.

WinVivo’s chief brand and package designer is the award winning designer, Joan Hausman of Hausman Design. Ms Hausman, trained as a nutritional scientist early in her career, identifies with WinVivo’s health philosophy and has designed the WinVivo brand including the family of product packaging. The choice of a peony blossom on the company logo and on the Healing Balm’s metallic green package was based on the concept of “East Meets West”—blending the eastern traditional medicinal botanical into a western, modern naturalistic background.
“This has been a creative team effort from my firm and the client WinVivo,” stated Ms. Hausman. “By combining an Oriental, harmonious botanical element with classic type fonts on a metallic background, we balance the yin and yang, appealing to both East and West.”
For nearly five decades, Graphic Design USA has sponsored national design competitions that spotlight areas of excellence and opportunity for creative professionals. The American Package Design Awards represent the fastest growing portion of the competitions. The judges look for well-designed graphics, and emphasize the power of design to advance the brand promise and forge an emotional link with the buyer at the moment of truth.
